Sunglasses Are Not Disposable

Why every man should own and protect a proper pair

Sunglasses are one of the few accessories that sit at the intersection of utility and identity. They protect your eyes, frame your face, and quietly communicate taste. Yet too often, they are treated like gas station purchases that are lost, scratched, or replaced without a second thought.

At a minimum, a man should own two distinct pairs of sunglasses, each with a clear purpose.

Look for:

• Slightly sportier silhouettes
• Polarized lenses

Casual does not mean careless. Even here, restraint and proportion matter.

Quality sunglasses:

• Use better lenses that reduce eye strain
• Hold their shape
• Age well instead of looking dated after a season

They also demand a little respect.

Protect the Investment

If you are willing to spend real money on sunglasses, you should be willing to protect them.

That means:

• Always using a hard or structured leather case
• Never tossing them loose in a bag or car console
• Cleaning lenses properly, not with your shirt

Scratched lenses and bent frames are not signs of character. They are signs of neglect.
